Facebook Malicious Tagging

It has come to the attention of the Department of Justice (DOJ) – Office of Cybercrime (OOC) that a number of Facebook account users are tagged in a post containing a link to a lewd video and when they access the said link, the user will be asked to install an apparent update to a player in order to watch the video in full. When clicked, it will result in the automatic and random tagging in the same post of other Facebook account users.
If you happen to get a notification tagging you in a post that contains a link to an apparent adult content, DO NOT CLICK ANY FURTHER AND REPORT THE POST.
Please be informed that as of this writing, the DOJ-OOC has directly raised this matter to the APAC Legal Law Enforcement Outreach of Facebook for their appropriate action.
Introduction or transmission of viruses, such as malwares, to and interference in the functioning of computer systems are prohibited acts under Republic Act No. 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. Let’s all be good netizens and practice the responsible use of social media.
Thank you.
Fake Job Scams via SMS

Desperate to get a job during the holiday season? Be cautious before taking up an opportunity to work offered by unknown SMS senders.
A fraudulent job posting will either ask the applicant to pay for application or training fees or promise high wages. It would also require the applicant to answer extensive personal information questionnaire that would then be used by the scammers to commit identity theft.
The holidays are a time for family and friends—but scammers will do everything to ruin celebrations. Avoid these unfortunate events from happening by being vigilant and conscientious with your online dealings.
Do not click unverified links and do not give away personal information easily.

On January 28, 2025, in Iloilo City, personnel from the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 6 (RACU 6), in coordination with the Iloilo City Police Station 7, arrested a suspect identified as “Marlon” by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest.
“Marlon” is wanted for the violation of Section 4(c)(4) (Libel) of Cybercrime Prevention Act.
Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG), reminded the public, “Spreading defamatory content online is not only irresponsible but also punishable by law. Let us use digital platforms responsibly to promote truth and respect, rather than harm others.”
